Zakaria Al-Sharabi:
Perhaps the realization of the importance of the achievement in breaking America’s thorn and shattering its image and what that means at the level of artificial entities, the first of which is the Israeli entity, still exceeds the comprehension of many. Perhaps the continued presence of an aircraft carrier outside the theater of operations for two month and a half and then leaving without entering this theater has become routine.
The first possibility can be understood, as after decades of American propaganda about military strength and naval dominance among the four poles of the globe, even the Americans did not understand what happened, how, and why.
When the aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” arrived in the region in October last year, they thought it was a picnic, and as the carrier’s commander said, the purpose was for our deployment to serve as a deterrent to Israel’s enemies and to meet the carrier “Ford” and take pictures there. As a result, Americans did not comprehend that there was a force that would dare target an American warship, to the extent that the Pentagon seemed contradictory in its account and unable to explain when a drone headed towards the destroyer “USS Hudner” in last November.
In this incident, the Pentagon said in a statement that the drone came from Yemen and was heading towards the destroyer “USS Thomas Hudner,” which was in international waters when it was shot down, and the next day Sabrina Singh, deputy press secretary for the Pentagon, told journalists on Thursday: “Our assessment now is that the intended target was not “Hudner,” but the drone came too close to the crew to the extent that the commander felt it necessary to engage with the drone and shoot it down.” Singh also said she could not confirm whether the drone belonged to the Houthis, and the Pentagon is still assessing ownership.
The War on the Rocks website published a report on the incident titled “US warship shoots down drone over Red Sea raises conflicting assessments,” quoting a statement from an official: “The drone launched by the Houthis was attacking the ship,” and the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operational details, said: “The trajectory was definitely attacking “Hudner.”
An American official also presented a different perspective, saying he did not believe that “Hudner” was the intended target.
It was only weeks before Americans admitted a battle their forces had not experienced since World War II, and their aircraft carriers seemed like an old weapon that could not remain safe.
When the aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” left in June after being targeted three times, Washington announced it would send the “Roosevelt,” and before the latter arrived, it conducted maneuvers with South Korea and India in preparation for going into a battle “Eisenhower” had escaped. However, the Red Sea and the Strait, as it is called, the gateway of sadness, tears, and lamentation.
On July 12, US Central Command announced that the “Roosevelt” had arrived in the operational area. The Yemeni forces were waiting for its arrival to engage in combat, but it had barely entered the Gulf of Aden before leaving, heading to the Gulf of Oman, where it remained until it was ordered to leave, for there was no expected benefit from its stay except for the display, and displaying was no longer effective in the face of news of failures in a field it could not reach.
Perhaps its return to port in San Diego would be better in terms of cost and maintenance.
This is a war that America cannot win, and there is only one way to avoid its escalation and stop its repercussions: stopping the genocide in Gaza, lifting the blockade, rebuilding, and compensating for the damages.
