A Chinese Channel: Israel faces crisis after Houthis launch “Hypersonic” missile

Exclusive Translation – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Remember more than ten days ago, when Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi confidently and resolutely announced his intention to use the latest ground technologies to strike enemies like the US and Israel. At that time, everyone was speculating about the nature of the “new technology” possessed by the Houthis. Did they perhaps find a new weapon in the desert?

Now, the answer has been revealed, as the Houthis no longer hide anything and openly announced their new technology, “Hypersonic Missiles.”

On September 15th local time, the Israeli Defense Forces announced that sirens blared in central Israel after a ground-to-ground missile was launched from Yemen, landing in an empty area in central Israel. Although the attack did not result in human casualties, it was extremely frightening for Israel because Houthi missiles had not previously reached this depth into Israeli territory. This means that Israeli air defenses were not able to intercept this missile, indicating that Israeli depth has become completely exposed and that there is no longer a safe place under the Houthi attack.

Regarding Israel’s failure to intercept this missile, it has attempted to provide multiple explanations. For instance, the media quoted military sources claiming that the Israeli army was not helpless but initially used the “Hetz-3” missile defense system, which may not have been suitable for intercepting this type of missile, and that if the “Iron Dome” had been used, the situation would have been different. Israeli media also mentioned that it was not a complete failure but rather an “incomplete interception,” meaning the missile was partially intercepted, preventing casualties. Some claimed that the Houthi missile disintegrated in Israeli airspace and that what hit the target on the ground was just “rocket fragments,” constituting a successful interception in essence.

But in fact, the sole reason for the interception failure was the Houthis’ use of hypersonic missiles, which not even the US military can intercept, so how can the Israeli army?

On September 15, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced that the Houthis used a new hypersonic missile to strike the Israeli depth, covering a distance of 2040 kilometers in 11 and a half minutes. This speed approaches “9 Mach,” aligning with hypersonic missile standards.

According to Israeli media, the Israeli forces confirmed that the missile took about 11 minutes from launch to impact, indicating that the Houthis didn’t exaggerate its speed but rather provided a slightly conservative figure, conclusively proving that the missile was hypersonic.

The emergence of hypersonic missiles in the hands of the Houthis undoubtedly poses a major crisis for Netanyahu. Due to the hostage crisis, Netanyahu was already facing severe criticism, with the country recently witnessing massive protests involving tens of thousands of demonstrators. On September 14, scenes of protests recurred, signaling a decline in his popularity and reputation to its lowest levels.

At this critical juncture, the Houthis showcased their ability to directly strike deep into Israeli territory. If Netanyahu insists on continuing the fight and refuses to accept a ceasefire, his internal and external problems are likely to worsen simultaneously, and his end will not be good.

*(The speed of the missile announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces is “16 Mach”), which is the calculation that considers the factor of gravity, while “9 Mach” is the speed of the object on the ground, calculated using the equation (distance/time).
