Israeli air strikes hit Gaza

Israeli air strikes hit areas of the Gaza Strip on Monday, killing 12 people, including a journalist and her family, medics said, as the intensity of the ground offensive eased amid an Israeli escalation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Palestinian health officials said Wafa al-Odaini, who wrote pro-Palestinian war articles in English, was killed when a rocket hit her home in the central city of Deir al-Balah, also killing her husband and their two children.

According to the government media office in Gaza, run by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, the killing of Wafa al-Odaini brings to 174 the number of Palestinian journalists killed in the Israeli military operation since Oct. 7.

Health authorities in Gaza said most of Gaza’s 2.3 million people had been displaced by the war, which has killed at least 41,615 Palestinians and injured 96,359.
