Catherine Russell, executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), warned on Sunday that children in the Gaza Strip will face “challenges beyond the current generation” due to the escalation.
“If you look at Gaza through the eyes of a child, you will see that it is hell,” Russell told CBS News, referring to the displaced and the ongoing shortages of food and clean water.
Speaking about the children, Russell said: “They’re very shocked by what’s happening… “Even if we can get more supplies there, the trauma these children are experiencing will be lifelong challenges and beyond the current generation.”
