Israeli forces expanded their incursion into the northern Gaza Strip and tanks reached the northern outskirts of Gaza City, where residents said they had destroyed some areas in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, forcing many families to flee.
Residents said that Israeli forces effectively isolated the northern Gaza cities of Beit Hanoun, Jabalia and Beit Lahiya from Gaza City, preventing movement between the two areas without obtaining permission from the Israeli authorities for families wishing to leave the three cities in compliance with eviction orders.
Nine days after the major Israeli operation in northern Gaza, Gaza’s Hamas-run state media office said Israeli strikes had killed about 300 Palestinians there. He added that the Israeli shelling of civilian homes and places of displaced persons aims to force the population to leave Gaza permanently.
Gaza’s health ministry said dozens had been killed in attacks of northern areas and dozens more were feared dead on roads and under the rubble of their homes without medical teams being able to reach them.
Many Jabalia residents wrote on social media: “We will not leave, we will die, we will not leave.”
