A medical official in Gaza said on Sunday that all orthopedic surgeries in the northern enclave, which has been under a tight Israeli blockade for 30 days, have been completely halted.
The director of al-Awda Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip told reporters in Gaza that orthopedic surgeries had stopped completely in the northern Gaza Strip due to the arrest of the head of the hospital’s orthopedic department.
Only one surgeon performs life-saving or general surgery in northern Gaza, he said, warning that all hospital services would be interrupted if fuel was not available within days.
He pointed out that the transport of those injured as a result of the Israeli shelling in northern Gaza is carried on shoulders or relying on animal-drawn vehicles.
Salha called on international organizations and the World Health Organization to complete the procedures for the admission of delegations of medical staff due to the severe shortage of medical staff in the hospital.
