The World Food Program (WFP) said that the markets of the Gaza Strip have reached a dire situation and prices have reached record levels due to the blockade applied and the ongoing Zionist aggression since the seventh of October 2023.
The UN program added in a post on the “X” platform that “fresh foods, eggs and meat are barely available and prices have reached record levels.”
WFP called for its team to be allowed access to the most needy citizens in the Gaza Strip, saying that “the lack of aid makes life more difficult for families.”
The Famine Review Committee of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) issued a rare warning this week expressing concern about the “imminent and high probability of famine due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip.
In a recent session, the UN Security Council discussed the catastrophic situation and famine in the Gaza Strip.
Ryan Paulson, director of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization’s Emergency and Resilience Office, told the council that nearly 133,000 people faced catastrophic food insecurity.
“The Famine Review Committee warned that there is a high probability that famine is now occurring or imminent in areas in the northern Gaza Strip,” he said.
