Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Water Resources condemned the provocations and violations against fishermen in the territorial waters of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, including the deployment of UAE forces their militias and military boats off the coast of Hadramout Governorate in the Shuhair area.
The ministry affirmed in a statement its steadfast position in rejecting all measures aimed at restricting the freedom of fishermen to practice their profession within Yemen’s territorial waters.
The statement considered such actions and behaviors a clear violation of international principles related to freedom of navigation and the rights of fishermen to utilize marine resources in a legal and secure manner, in accordance with international laws and treaties that protect the rights of peoples in exploiting their natural resources.
It called on the international community and organizations concerned with human rights and freedom of maritime navigation to fulfill their responsibilities in pressuring to halt these violations and ensure the freedom of fishermen to carry out their work without fear of threats or attacks.
The ministry also confirmed its ongoing monitoring of these events, urging immediate measures to lift the illegal restrictions imposed on Yemen’s territorial waters in the Arabian Sea and to provide adequate protection for Yemeni fishermen in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
