Exclusive Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
An American newspaper has stated that the American forces battle with the Houthis in the Red Sea for about a year has reached a dangerous deadlock.
A report published by the American newspaper “Business Insider” mentioned that the Houthis spent the past year threatening major shipping lanes with missiles and drones, with the US-led military response failing to deter their attacks.
The report added that the US army led a western naval alliance against the Houthis, but a year of intense fighting has not brought the US closer to ending the Houthi threat.
The newspaper’s report referenced a previous statement by the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, regarding his country’s lack of desire for further escalation in Yemen.
It also referenced to other Pentagon’s statements confirming that the Houthis still retain their military capabilities.
Retired General Joseph Votel, who oversaw military operations in the Middle East in the early 21st century as the commander of US Central Command, told BI: “The threat remains, and there doesn’t seem to be much backtracking.”
