The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of medical workers who are now on the job in the governorates of Gaza and northern Gaza does not exceed 1,000 employees out of 12,000 who provided service before the Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Maher Shamieh, Assistant Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said in a special statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that only 8% of the medical staff are carrying out their duties in the northern Gaza Strip, due to the Israeli aggression and the targeting of medical staff with killing and arrest, and the displacement of large numbers of them to the southern Gaza Strip.

He stressed that with the escalation of the Israeli aggression on the northern Gaza Strip, challenges arise for health service providers who have been working around the clock for 14 months in light of the decline in the number of medical staff and the shortage of equipment and supplies.

According to official statistics, the number of martyrs of medical staff since the beginning of the war on Gaza has reached about 1055 martyrs, and the occupation forces arrested 319 others, and killed 3 of them inside prisons.
