The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that Palestinians – exhausted by ongoing conflict and repeated displacement – face persistent acute water scarcity.
According to municipal data, water production across Gaza has fallen by 9 percent over the past month. There is also a significant loss of water due to damage to the infrastructure, which leads to several problems, including leakage through pipes.
The Palestinian Water Authority estimates that more than 80 per cent of Gaza’s water sector has been affected, including wells, pumping stations, desalination, distribution networks and sewage treatment.
