A new cargo ship sank off the western coast of Yemen on Thursday.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Reuters reported, citing Western sources, the European mission in the Red Sea, known as “ASPIDES,” managed to rescue the crew, confirming that water has begun to flow into the engine room.
The sources explained that the ship, flying the flag of Panama, was passing 100 miles off the coast of the city of Hudaydah when an internal explosion occurred, resulting in engine failure.
It is not yet clear whether the explosion was part of Yemeni operations in support of Gaza or due to an internal malfunction.
Since November of last year, the Red Sea has witnessed escalating operations against ships associated with the occupation, as well as American and British battleships linked to it.
If the Yemeni forces adopt the operation, it will signify a new shift in Yemeni attacks, which have been using the tactic of air and drone attacks, whether by air or sea, over the past months.
