UNRWA: The magnitude of Gaza’s suffering has shaken faith in human rights

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that the scale of suffering in the Gaza Strip has shaken the faith of many in human rights, stressing that what the residents of the Strip are deprived of are “rights, not privileges.”

This came in a post on the X platform, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, corresponding to December 10 of each year, the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

“The scale of suffering in Gaza over the past year has shaken many people’s faith in human rights,” the agency said, adding that the rights that people in Gaza are denied the same rights that aim to ensure that we are all protected.
