Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Tuesday that about one million displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are at risk of dying due to the winter cold amid the continued genocide war of the occupation. For its part, the Norwegian Refugee Council has expressed the Strip’s urgent need for aid.
UNRWA spokesman Jonathan Fowler warned of the tragic situation of the displaced Palestinians with the onset of winter and the continuation of the genocide war and the scarcity of aid.
He said, “About 60,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza Strip are living in disastrous conditions under the ongoing Israeli siege for 62 days, surrounded by death from all sides.”
For his part, the Norwegian Refugee Council stressed “the urgent need for 2,000 trucks of tents and 200 trucks of isolation equipment to provide the necessary protection for 1.13 million displaced Palestinians in Gaza.”
Jeroen Quanjer, head of the Palestine Shelter Group of the Norwegian Refugee Council, stated that “the group has received only a fraction of the required assistance to address the crisis, while hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinian families bear the winter cold and rain without any protection.”
He added, “The measures of the Israeli occupation army and the imposed siege on the Gaza Strip prevent the provision of basic shelter materials and prevent the group from expanding the scope of its response to meet the displaced need to provide shelter capable of withstanding the winter conditions in Gaza.”
