The Director-General of the World Health Organization, “Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus”, announced on Thursday the injury of a member of the crew of a UN plane in the “Israeli” bombardment of Sana’a International Airport.

Ghebreyesus said in a tweet on the “X” platform: “He was unable to leave the Yemeni capital Sana’a with the accompanying delegation, following a series of Israeli airstrikes that targeted Sana’a International Airport, just as he was about to board the UN plane.”

He confirmed that one of the crew members of the plane was injured as a result of the attack, which left three martyrs and at least 16 wounded, explaining that the air traffic control tower at the airport was damaged, in addition to the departure hall.

The Director-General of the WHO stated that he was with his team just a few meters away from the areas targeted by the Israeli planes, indicating that they had to wait until the damage to the airport was repaired before leaving.

The head of the Sana’a delegation in the political negotiations, Mohammed Abdel Salam, commented on Thursday on the Israeli aggressive raids on Yemen, saying that “the targeting of Sana’a International Airport and other civilian infrastructure is a Zionist crime against the entire Yemeni people.”

The “Israeli Broadcasting Corporation” had reported earlier that their aircraft had targeted “Sana’a Airport, the port of Hudaydah, and energy and oil facilities,” while the Hebrew website “Walla” quoted sources as saying that “dozens of Israeli planes participated in the attack on Yemen.”
