The security agencies in Sana’a announced on Monday that they arrested during December 2024 a cell belonging to the British intelligence agency (MI6) and the Saudi intelligence service.

The security agencies said in a statement that the British intelligence, in cooperation and coordination with the Saudi intelligence, sought to recruit and train espionage elements to carry out intelligence activities against our country.
Regarding the nature of the targets that these intelligence activities were aimed at, the statement explained that they “targeted monitoring and surveillance of sites and facilities belonging to the missile force, the drones, and some military and security sites.”
The statement of the security agencies in Sana’a indicated that “the espionage elements underwent evaluation and technical tests during the recruitment phase at the hands of British and Saudi officers in Riyadh,” adding that the elements were “trained in the use of espionage software, devices, and techniques to carry out intelligence tasks and activities after their return to the territory of the Republic of Yemen.”
The British intelligence officers used Saudi territory as a center for managing and implementing intelligence activities, and in the statement, it stressed that “the intelligence activities targeted monitoring and surveillance of the locations, homes, and movements of some state leaders.”
