In January of last year, the US and Britain launched a wide-ranging aggression against Yemen, and after about a year, they expanded the coalition, but what has changed over the course of a full year?

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

On January 12, 2024, the US and Britain announced airstrikes on the Yemeni capital and cities under the control of the Ansar Allah movement, marking the beginning of a new phase of aggression after months of naval confrontations with the Yemeni forces.

What was striking at the time was that the pace of the raids continued on a daily basis during the first few months of the year, before declining significantly to less than two to three raids per month during the second half of last year. As for the international level, the two superpowers tried to use a Security Council condemnation statement for the Yemeni operations supporting Gaza as a cover for targeting a sovereign country.

After a series of raids that the Yemeni leadership, headed by the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, confirmed had no impact on the Yemeni military capabilities, Britain and America tried to portray major achievements by promoting propaganda about eliminating all the military capabilities of those they described as “Houthis.”

America believed that it had somewhat succeeded in reducing the Yemeni capabilities, even though the Yemeni naval operations did not stop, including targeting battleships and aircraft carriers, in addition to targeting the occupied cities in Palestine, most notably the capital Tel Aviv, not to mention Yemen’s revealing of new military capabilities, such as hypersonic missiles and drones with greater capabilities, as well as unmanned submarines.

During the last few months of this year, with American and allied success in halting several resistance fronts in the region, the Yemeni operations have become a nightmare for those parties, with cameras focused on them and settlers fleeing to shelters in the middle of the night to escape the sound of explosions.

What raised the concerns of the British-American alliance is not only keeping the capital, Tel Aviv, under the pressure of Yemeni missiles but also the implications of this on the future influence of these powers that have ruled the high seas for decades, so they all decided to return the confrontation to square one, but this time with a broader coalition including the Israeli occupation, although the targets bombed so far are the same ones that America, Britain, and the Israeli occupation have bombed before, and before them the Saudi-Emirati coalition.

Unlike 2024, which saw a noticeable increase in American-British air raids, regardless of their empty targets, the new coalition seems very tired and is suffering logistically and intelligence-wise, which is the same dilemma that prevented it from achieving any victory in the past months. The Defense Department, which spoke last year about destroying the “Houthi” capabilities, has returned this year with a new tone, saying it is working “to the best of its ability” to reduce their capabilities, a clear confirmation of the failure of the joint campaign with Britain to stop the growing rise of Yemen.
