Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Sana’a revealed, on Sunday, new details about the negotiations with Saudi Arabia regarding the prisoners’ file, referring to what it described as the Saudi dual approach in dealing with this file.

The head of the Prisoners’ Committee in Sana’a, Abdulqader Al-Murtadha, criticized the Saudi role in the negotiations, stressing that Riyadh is only focusing on the release of its prisoners without looking at the rest of the prisoners, including the conscripts fighting in the ranks of the coalition. Al-Murtadha described this behavior as unfair and raises questions about Saudi Arabia’s commitment to its allies.

These statements come after Sana’a announced the release of a new batch of prisoners through a unilateral humanitarian initiative. Al-Murtadha explained that the batch included 153 prisoners, most of them fighters in the ranks of the Saudi forces, who were captured during the “Wadi Al Abou Jbarah” battle, where Sana’a’s forces were able to capture about 230 fighters at the time.

This move by Sana’a, along with Al-Murtadha’s statements, reflects clear signs of Saudi Arabia’s retreat from its obligations towards the conscripts it has thrown into the fighting ranks, which places its allies in a weak position and reinforces accusations of a lack of coordination among the coalition parties.

This initiative comes as part of a series of steps taken by Sana’a recently to demonstrate its commitment to humanitarian issues, while developments indicate a clear divergence in the management of the prisoners’ file between Sana’a and the Saudi-led coalition.
