The Israeli military launched an airstrike in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, allegedly targeting a platform it said was used to launch a rocket.
He said in a statement: “The air force has just attacked the rocket platform that was monitored to be used to launch the rocket inside the Gaza Strip.”
Earlier Thursday, the Israeli military claimed to have detected a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip, where it landed.
As of 16:50 (GMT), there was no comment from the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip regarding the Israeli army’s claims, but eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that “an Israeli drone fired one missile on agricultural land east of the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, without reporting any injuries.”
This is the first time the Israeli military has announced rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, while it is not the first to launch an airstrike on the territory since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on January 19.
Earlier Thursday, the head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service, Ronen Barr, threatened a security escalation in the Gaza Strip, noting that their forces were “in a state of high readiness to deal with different scenarios.”
