The American Fox News network revealed, on Saturday, that the Sana’a forces targeted a US F-16 aircraft with surface-to-air missiles, in an escalation that is the first of its kind since the start of the confrontations between them and the US Navy.
Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The agency, quoting three military officials, indicated that “the plane was flying off the Yemeni coast over the Red Sea when the missile was fired at it on November 19 of this month, but it didn’t hit the plane.”
It added, “The Sana’a forces also launched another missile at a US MQ-9 Reaper drone that was flying over Yemen outside the Houthi-controlled areas on February 19.”
It pointed out that this is the “first time that the Sana’a forces have launched a “SAM” missile at a US F-16 fighter aircraft.”
According to senior US defense officials, this is “a major escalation in the ongoing military interactions between the Sana’a forces and the US Navy and Air Force.”
