The US resumed military displays in the Middle East on Thursday, coinciding with the return of tension with Yemen.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The US Central Command, which is based in the Gulf, published photos and a video of an extended flight by the strategic B-52 bombers to show off what it described as the force’s capabilities in its area of operations.
According to a tweet on the US command’s official page, the bombers took off from Fairford Air Base in Britain and flew over Europe before arriving in the Central Command’s area of operations.
The clips show the American bombers flying over maritime areas and refueling in the air.
Although the US command considered the flight to be a display of power projection capabilities in the region during what it called the third round in two weeks, the distance of the flight shows the opposite, as the ability of these aircraft to carry a large number of bombs is limited, in addition to the fact that they may only conduct limited attacks, not to mention the time it takes them to reach the region.
These steps reflect America’s rejection by its allies in the Gulf to use bases there.
The American display came a day after Yemen announced the downing of an MQ-9 drone off the west coast of Yemen.
The US forces had previously used these bombers during the confrontations with Yemen, which lasted for more than a year, but they were unable to contain the Yemeni operations supporting Gaza, which escalated with each new aggression against Yemen.
Through the display of bombers flying at high altitudes, America is trying to compensate for the loss of naval hegemony that it suffered due to Yemen’s targeting of its fleets and aircraft carriers, forcing it to leave the Red Sea.
With the loss of naval supremacy, a grueling journey for American bombers to show off in the Gulf
