The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Saturday that it had “opened 130 temporary education centers in Gaza, enabling direct learning for approximately 47,000 children across the Strip.”
This came in a statement posted by UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini on his X account, in which he emphasized that UNRWA remains the largest provider of emergency learning and psychosocial support services in Gaza.
Lazzarini added that the challenges in Gaza are great, and “there is no time to waste. Our goal is to avoid a lost generation of Palestinian children.”
He emphasized that “education restores some hope to the children of Gaza, helping them recover,” noting its role in overcoming “the unspeakable traumas that children are experiencing.”
