The Western countries strongly entered the Gaza file on Saturday, amid escalating fears about its implications for the future of energy flow through the Bab Al-Mandeb strait.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
France, Germany, and Britain issued a joint statement calling on all parties to return to the negotiating table and stop the war immediately.
The statement issued after a meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries considered the resumption of air raids on Gaza as a dramatic regression for the people of Gaza, the prisoners, their families, and the entire region.
It stressed the need to abide by the ceasefire in Gaza, criticizing what it described as the bloodshed by Israel.
The statement is the first of its kind, which includes scathing criticism of the occupation by one of its closest allies.
The statement came as American media revealed the return of European fears about the repercussions of the aggression on Gaza on the flow of energy supplies to European markets through the Red Sea.
The American magazine “Bloomberg” quoted European sources as saying that the recent truce in the Red Sea allowed Europe to increase its energy imports through the Suez Canal, stressing that there are now fears of the return of navigation through the distant passages in light of Yemen’s decision to resume operations supporting Gaza in response to the Zionist massacres.
The Yemeni forces had announced the resumption of the ban on Israeli navigation through the Red Sea as part of escalatory steps that may also include targeting ships heading to the occupied ports in Palestine, particularly those in the Mediterranean, where the western ports are located.
The Western moves against the occupation reflect the scale of fears about the consequences of the latest escalation in Gaza on the region.
