The Palestinian Ministry of Health has issued a warning about the serious deterioration of the health sector in the southern governorates, amid the ongoing and escalating Israeli aggression and the tightened blockade. This has led to the near-total collapse of the health system at a time when medical and humanitarian needs are increasing at an unprecedented rate.
The Ministry confirmed in a statement that hospitals and health facilities in the Gaza Strip are operating beyond their capacity, amid a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, in addition to the depletion of fuel needed to operate equipment and generators. This threatens the lives of thousands of patients and wounded, especially children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
The Ministry noted the worsening food crisis and famine, with patients and citizens suffering from a severe shortage of food and potable water, exacerbating the health and humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.
The Ministry of Health called on the international community, sister and friendly countries, and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately and pressure the Israeli occupation to urgently open the crossings and allow the entry of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, in addition to providing food aid to save the lives of patients, children, and the needy, in light of the worsening hunger and malnutrition crisis.
