The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Tuesday that members of the Ministry of Education and Israeli police raided six UNRWA schools in Jerusalem and served them with closure notices.
UNRWA stated that this measure “threatens hundreds of Palestinian refugee children in Jerusalem and deprives them of access to education.”
UNRWA stressed that this measure “is completely unacceptable and violates international law and the immunity of UN facilities.” It emphasized that “the consequences will be dire if we are forced to close our schools in East Jerusalem.”
