The World Health Organization (WHO) described the conditions inside hospitals in the Gaza Strip as “beyond description,” after a key facility was put out of service by an Israeli airstrike.
WHO spokesperson Dr. Margaret Harris told the BBC that the Gaza Strip was experiencing “attack after attack” on hospitals and healthcare workers, adding that medical supplies were extremely low due to the Israeli blockade of the Strip.
Staff at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City reported on Sunday that an Israeli airstrike destroyed the hospital’s laboratory and damaged the emergency room. No direct casualties were reported, but they said a child died due to the interruption in care.
