Palestinian Health: Power outages threaten patients’ lives and portend a complete collapse

Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, a spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, warned that the continued power outages in the Gaza Strip directly threaten the lives of hundreds of patients, and expose the entire health system to the risk of complete collapse.

Al-Daqran said that hospitals depend entirely on generators, and with the fuel running out of their operation, the medical service becomes almost impossible, especially in vital departments such as intensive care, nurseries, and operating rooms.

The Ministry of Health spokesman indicated that the crisis is not limited to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, but also includes Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, which are among the largest hospitals that receive critical cases and victims.

He explained that the suspension of these hospitals due to power outages means that they will be sentenced to death, in light of the scarcity of medicines and the inability of medical devices to operate without electrical energy.
