The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the Israeli military order for residents and displaced persons in the Deir al-Balah area of central Gaza to move south dealt “another devastating blow” to humanitarian efforts in the war-torn enclave.
This comes as the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported 18 deaths from starvation in the past 24 hours.
Earlier yesterday, the ministry said that dozens of Palestinians were killed on Sunday by Israeli army fire while waiting for food aid.
The Israeli military, for its part, said its soldiers “fired warning shots” to remove an “immediate threat,” casting doubt on the death toll announced by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
