The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said on Saturday that hospitals are unable to accommodate the increasing number of wounded and sick patients due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, forcing medical staff to cover corridors and floors to receive patients amid a near-total collapse of the health system.
The ministry explained in a statement that “hospitals are drowning in a sea of injuries, and the number of patients exceeds their capacity,” noting that bed occupancy rates have reached record levels in various operating health facilities.
The ministry confirmed that “medical staff are forced to cover corridors and floors to receive the injured, given the severe shortage of beds and medical supplies.”
The ministry called on the international community, UN agencies, and humanitarian organizations to “provide immediate and effective support to strengthen the capabilities of the exhausted health sector,” stressing that the situation has reached critical stages that threaten the lives of thousands of civilians.
