Guterres calls for a fair investigation into the assassination of Gaza journalists.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the assassination of six Palestinian journalists in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City, north of the besieged enclave, on Monday, calling for an “independent and impartial” investigation into the matter.

The condemnation came from UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric at a press conference at UN Headquarters in Geneva, according to the UN News website.

Dujarric said, “Journalists working for Al Jazeera in Gaza once again fell victim to the conflict on Sunday,” explaining that “these latest killings highlight the grave risks journalists continue to face while covering this ongoing conflict” for more than 22 months. He continued, “The Secretary-General calls for an independent and impartial investigation into these latest killings.”
