UNRWA: One million women in Gaza face mass starvation

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that one million women and girls in the Gaza Strip face “mass starvation” in light of the ongoing Israeli blockade and war of extermination since October 2023.

In a post on the X platform, the agency explained that women and girls are forced to adopt “increasingly dangerous survival strategies,” such as going out in search of food and water despite being exposed to killing, violence, and abuse.

UNRWA called for the blockade on the Gaza Strip to be lifted and for large-scale humanitarian aid to be allowed in, given Israel’s continued closure of the crossings to aid flows and the backlog of trucks at the border, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and leading to widespread famine.
