Palestinian athletes in the Gaza Strip have not been immune to the ongoing genocide for nearly two years. 673 of them have been martyred by the Israeli occupation army in a systematic attack targeting people, including facilities.
According to the official website of the Palestinian Football Association, the martyrs include 324 athletes affiliated with the association, including players, coaches, administrators, referees, and club board members, in addition to athletes in other sports.
It indicates that 40 Palestinian athletes from various disciplines were martyred last July, while nine members of the Palestinian sports and scouting movement have been martyred since the beginning of August.
Regarding facilities, the Federation explains that the number of sports facilities destroyed by Israel reached 264, of which 184 were completely destroyed, and the rest were partially destroyed.
The latest athlete martyr of the Israeli genocide was former Palestinian national basketball team player Mohammed Shaalan, who was killed on Tuesday by Israeli army fire while trying to reach humanitarian aid to feed his children in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
