Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted activists in Gaza as saying that explosions were heard as several drones flew over an aid flotilla heading to the Strip. A number of boats were also damaged.
The flotilla had previously been subjected to similar attacks off the Tunisian coast.
Israel has been preventing activists seeking to break the blockade of Gaza from reaching the coastal strip.
The escalation in the Strip comes shortly after what could be a pivotal step in the Gaza war. US President Donald Trump met Tuesday evening with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries amid intense efforts to find a solution to the crisis.
