The Hebrew newspaper “Globes” revealed that Yemeni drones have become the most prominent threat to the occupation’s air defense systems, especially after the recent strikes that targeted the city of Umm Al-Rashrash (Eilat).
Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The newspaper explained that the Israeli security establishment believed it possessed an integrated defense system, but the recent Yemeni attacks proved the existence of a sensitive weak point in these systems.
In a statement to the newspaper dated September 29th, Brigadier General Ran Kochav, the former commander of the Air Defense System, said that the continuation of these attacks could lead to the depopulation of the city of Umm Al-Rashrash (Eilat) or the closure of its airport, describing it as a strategic threat.
Kochav pointed out that the Iron Dome system faces difficulty in dealing with drones due to their flight at low altitudes, explaining that detecting them over the sea is nearly impossible, which was clearly evident in the attacks that targeted Jaffa and Eilat.
He added that the Yemeni forces were able to identify weaknesses in Eilat, Ramon, and Lod Airport and continue to launch drones and missiles weekly, causing increasing depletion of the occupation’s capabilities, noting that these attacks have confused Tel Aviv’s calculations in what he called “the economics of armament,” as the entity did not enter the war with a clear superiority in the field of defense against drones.
