Extensive dredging of fish wealth in Socotra

Photos circulating on social media showed random fishing practices on the island of Socotra, which is under the control of forces affiliated with the UAE.

Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The photos document a truck loaded with dozens of large sharks in the city of Hadibu, the capital of the archipelago, serving as an example of a phenomenon that activists confirm has been increasing recently.

Activists warned of the dangers of these practices, pointing out that the random fishing does not comply with specific laws, which threatens the archipelago’s fish wealth. They also confirmed the necessity of taking immediate measures to protect the marine environment and ensure the sustainability of fishery resources.
