Israel has begun implementing punitive measures against Gaza because the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has not handed over the bodies of Israeli prisoners. This move coincided with the ceasefire negotiations, as Palestinian negotiators informed mediators of the difficulty of finding all the bodies.
Israel decided not to open the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt on Wednesday and to reduce the entry of humanitarian aid, claiming that Hamas has not handed over all the remains of the Israeli prisoners.
Israel informed the United Nations that it would only allow 300 aid trucks, representing half the agreed-upon number, into the Gaza Strip starting today.
A memo seen by Reuters and confirmed by the international organization stated that Israel also informed the organization that it would not allow any fuel or gas into the Strip except for specific needs related to humanitarian infrastructure.
