The Gaza Municipality warned of an environmental disaster due to sewage leaking and mixing with groundwater.
In a media statement on Saturday, the municipality said that “pumps in the city have stopped completely or partially due to the Israeli incursion.”
It explained that “the sewage networks were largely destroyed, causing large quantities of water to leak into the city.”
It added, “We are facing an environmental disaster due to sewage leaking and mixing with groundwater.”
It indicated that it faces the risk of seawater pollution and sewage mixing with drinking water tanks.
The Gaza Municipality called for the import of maintenance equipment and generators to maintain water facilities.
