US aircraft flying over the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden

The airspace of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden witnessed new flights by US aircraft on Thursday.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Satellite images showed the deployment of US forces’ “MQ-4C” spy aircraft near Yemeni waters.

The aircraft take off from bases in the UAE to fly on a long trajectory over the Gulf of Aden, the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, and up to the Red Sea.

The flights coincided with the continued oversight by the US Central Command over exercises carried out by joint task forces, which include Western and Arab countries allied with the US, in the shipping lanes near Yemen.

It is not yet clear whether the US forces’ deployment of spy aircraft reflects fears of the maneuvers being targeted or is a result of monitoring attacks or flights by aircraft of some kind.

The US forces’ reliance on drones to sweep the airspace of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden at a considerable distance from Yemen is an indicator of the extent to which American influence has reached, which has diminished over the past two years with the success of the Yemeni forces in expelling US battleships and fleets from the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden during asymmetric confrontations.
