The continuation of military operations in Gaza endangers civilians and aid workers

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that ongoing military activities in Gaza are endangering civilians, including aid workers, and reminded the Israeli military of its obligation to exercise constant caution to avoid endangering civilians during its operations.

OCHA reported daily reports of the continued demolition of residential buildings in multiple areas where the Israeli military remains deployed, particularly east of Khan Younis, east of Gaza City, and Rafah.

It also noted continued reports of Israeli military strikes near or east of the so-called “Yellow Line,” resulting in casualties.

Meanwhile, UN partners monitoring population movements reported that hundreds of thousands of families have been displaced since the ceasefire, but also confirmed that many families have expressed a desire to remain in their current locations “due to widespread destruction, a lack of alternatives, and continued uncertainty about safety and services in their areas of origin,” according to UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq.
