UNRWA: Israel is obstructing the entry of aid into Gaza in clear violation of international law

Amid the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, international warnings are escalating regarding the consequences of continued restrictions on aid entry, with fears of worsening hunger and the collapse of basic services in the Strip.

UNRWA Deputy Commissioner-General Natalie Buckley asserts that Israel is violating international law by continuing to restrict the flow of aid to Gaza, emphasizing that only half the required daily amount—between 500 and 600 truckloads—is entering the Strip.

She notes that UNRWA has enough stockpiles to load up to 6,000 truckloads of food, tents, and essential supplies, stating that these supplies, sufficient for three months, are located in Jordan and Egypt but have not reached Gaza due to Israeli obstruction. She adds that other UN agencies are facing the same problem.

Buckley says that the entire world, including the European Union and the United States, is obligated to increase pressure on the Israeli government to ensure the unrestricted entry of aid.
