Gaza Municipality warns… sewage pond turns into a ticking time bomb

The Gaza Municipality stated that the suffering of the Gaza Strip’s residents is worsening due to the storm, with conditions becoming catastrophic after dilapidated tents belonging to displaced people were flooded.

In a press statement on Saturday, the municipality reported that the stormwater drainage system in the Strip is damaged, causing sewage to overflow. It noted that sewage and waste are flooding homes and shelters, calling for urgent international intervention to address the situation.

The municipality added, “We have plans to combat storms and assist people, but we lack the equipment to implement them.” It emphasized that the Strip is in dire need of temporary housing, tents, building materials, and fuel to help the people.
