Heavy rains flooded tents of displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza

Dozens of Palestinian tents were flooded overnight across Gaza, particularly in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis in the south, repeating the tragic scenes that continue to affect the territory’s residents.

The first major winter storm of the season, which began less than ten days ago, caused flash floods and widespread waterlogging, damaging numerous tents and displacing thousands of families amid a severe shortage of basic services.

Rainwater also seeped into other dilapidated shelters with large holes in their roofs.

Despite repeated warnings and modest precautions taken by residents, many tents were inundated, leaving numerous families homeless. Appeals for urgent assistance have so far been limited and insufficient to meet the scale of the disaster.
