Guterres: Gaza urgently needs heavy equipment and calls for unimpeded aid flow.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stressed on Thursday the urgent need to allow heavy equipment into the Gaza Strip to clear rubble.

Guterres’ spokesperson told a press conference that there is an urgent need to provide heavy equipment for debris removal and tools that are currently being prevented from entering the Gaza Strip.

He noted that thousands of people in the Strip are still suffering from the effects of the recent winter storms.

In the same context, Guterres welcomed the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

He emphasized that humanitarian aid must flow without hindrance.

Guterres stressed the need for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which would open an irreversible path towards a two-state solution in accordance with international law.
