Gaza Municipality: Severe water crisis in Gaza due to Israeli occupation forces’ targeting

The Gaza Municipality announced on Saturday that the severe water shortage affecting large areas of Gaza City is due to damage to water pipelines caused by recent Israeli attacks.

In a statement published by Palestinian media outlets, the municipality explained that its technical teams detected a major malfunction in the water lines east of Gaza City, resulting from Israeli shelling of the area. This has led to the interruption of water supplies to thousands of residential units.

Since launching its offensive on the Gaza Strip in 2013, Israeli forces have destroyed water lines, dozens of reservoirs, and water wells as part of their systematic targeting of the Strip’s infrastructure. This has exacerbated the suffering of the population and worsened the catastrophic humanitarian situation faced by Palestinians in the besieged territory.
