Gaza.. Palestinian infant death from freezing cold

A Palestinian infant died on Tuesday from the bitter cold in the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll from the cold since the start of winter to nine children.

This rise in deaths is attributed to the dire humanitarian conditions faced by Palestinians living in tents and shelters lacking basic necessities, including adequate blankets and clothing.

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating due to Israel’s failure to uphold its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, including opening the crossings and allowing the entry of agreed-upon quantities of humanitarian aid, relief supplies, and shelter materials.

A medical source reported that seven-month-old Shatha Abu Jarad, a resident of the al-Daraj neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, died after suffering sudden cardiac arrest due to the extreme cold.

According to the Palestinian Meteorological Department, the Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, experienced a low-pressure system accompanied by a very cold polar air mass on Tuesday, with widespread frost expected overnight.
