Cold-related deaths in Gaza rise to 10 children since the start of winter

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the death toll of children from the cold since the beginning of winter has risen to 10.

This increase comes amidst the tragic humanitarian conditions endured by the residents of the Gaza Strip two years after the Israeli offensive, due to Tel Aviv’s failure to uphold its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, including opening the crossings and allowing the entry of the agreed-upon quantities of relief, humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid.

In a statistical statement, the Ministry announced the death of three-month-old Ali Abu Zur due to the extreme cold at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, without specifying the date of death.

The statement clarified that this death “brings the number of children who have died from the cold since the beginning of winter to 10.”

More than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are living in dire humanitarian conditions following widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure, forcing hundreds of thousands to reside in makeshift tents that lack even the most basic protection from the elements.
