The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip refuted on Wednesday the Israeli army’s claims regarding the use of ambulances to “transport Palestinian militants,” asserting that these allegations are baseless.
In a press statement, the Directorate affirmed that ambulances have never been used by any militants, categorically denying the Israeli narrative.
It clarified that the individuals appearing in the videos released by the Israeli army were members of the civilian police force, carrying their personal weapons while performing their duties of organizing ambulance traffic and facilitating the transfer of the wounded. They were not armed, as the Israeli army claims.
The Directorate emphasized that the Israeli occupation deliberately fabricates images and edits video footage in an attempt to mislead public opinion and justify its ongoing crimes against civilians, including targeting medical personnel, paramedics, and ambulances while they are carrying out their humanitarian duties. The Civil Defense affirmed its full commitment to operating in accordance with international laws and conventions, calling on human rights and media organizations to expose the falsehood of these allegations and to provide protection for humanitarian personnel working in the field.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces, with American and European support, have committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arbitrary detention, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease these actions.
