The Palestinian Center for the Defense of Prisoners called on Tuesday for urgent international protection for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, given the escalating violations against them.
In a statement, the Center explained that the raids on prisoners’ sections within Israeli prisons constitute organized state terrorism targeting the prisoner movement.
The Center held Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir directly responsible for the recent attacks on prisoners.
It also asserted that the occupation government, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, provides political cover for escalating repressive measures within the prisons.
The Center indicated its expectation of further deterioration in the prisoners’ conditions as long as the repressive policies implemented within the prisons continue.
It warned that the world’s preoccupation with current events may encourage the occupation authorities to escalate their violations and crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
