Reuters contradicts the US energy secretary’s statements about escorting oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Informed sources denied to Reuters what was published by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright regarding the US Navy escorting an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz, confirming that the US Navy has been refusing, almost daily since the start of the aggression against Iran, requests from shipping companies for military escort due to the high risk of attacks in the region.

This denial came after the minister’s post caused confusion in global oil markets before he later deleted it without explaining the reason, leading to sharp fluctuations in global oil prices.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency pointed to a discrepancy between the US president’s statements about the US’s readiness to provide naval escort along the vital passage and the US Navy’s realistic assessments of the threats in the region.
