CNN: Forcibly opening the Strait of Hormuz would expose US forces to immense risks

The American network “CNN” stated on Wednesday that any American military operation to forcibly open the Strait of Hormuz would expose US forces and ships to immense risks, amid warnings that it could drag the region into an all-out war.

Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The network affirmed in a report that “Iran’s complete and official closure of the Strait of Hormuz would lead to a severe global economic crisis and a crazy rise in energy prices at a time when the world depends on the passage of about 20 million barrels of oil daily through this vital waterway.”

Meanwhile, analysts warned that attempting to open the strait by force could turn into an all-out war in the region.

It explained that the immense potential risks of taking the step to forcibly open the strait stem from Iran’s multiple capabilities, which include long-range naval missiles, mines, fast boats, and drones.

Estimates indicate that Iran possesses a large inventory of anti-ship missiles capable of striking naval targets at distances exceeding one thousand kilometers.

Iran also possesses various naval weapons, most notably long-range “Abu Mahdi” missiles, “Nasir” missiles, and “Zulfiqar” and “Qiam” ballistic missiles equipped with naval seekers, in addition to “Soumar” missiles with a range of up to 3000 kilometers.
